This past weekend was the first weekend of NCAA March Madness. As has been his practice since long before he entered our lives, my son-in-law and his buddies from college trekked down to a friend’s cabin at the lake. This is the weekend each year when they try to pretend that they’re still in college, leaving wives, families, jobs, etc., behind as distant memories.
As has become our practice, Krista and I took the day off on Friday and headed out for Girls’ Shopping Day with Campbell in tow. Usually the main objective is to get some spring and summer clothes for Campbell and indeed this year the need was even more urgent since she has grown a whopping 6” since her birthday in June. So after lunch, we hit the mall where we found some very cute outfits and accessories for Campbell, who is much more of a “girlie girl” than her mother ever was. She's very much into fashion and bling.

Among her finds was this cute little headband which was a perfect excuse for me to break out the camera. My photo “prompt” for the week was the color aqua and since I’m somewhat aqua-challenged, I was on the lookout anywhere and everywhere for some scrumptious aqua. I think this is a stunning color on her, too. But then any color is stunning on her!
After a nail-biter of a game against West Virginia, we were happy that UK won the game and advanced onward and upward to the Sweet Sixteen . . . where they will play number one ranked Ohio State so I know some more nail biting is in order. A friend told me today that if anybody can beat Ohio State, it's UK. I sure hope he's right!
Did you remember to look for the super moon on Saturday? We made something of an event out of it. I wanted to take photos, so armed with my photography gear and the knowledge that the moon would rise at sunset, Campbell, Krista, Peepaw and I hopped in the car and headed to a nearby hill to wait for the moon. While we waited patiently on the side of the road, a police car pulled up next to us and asked politely if we were okay. After explaining that we were waiting for the moon to rise, Steve became very amused that the cop believed him so easily. Here we were two grandparent-age people, a mommy-age person and a preschooler. What else would we be doing other than waiting for the moon to rise?
At long last, spring seems to be in full bloom here in our hometown although I’m sure we’ll have to endure Blackberry Winter, Redbud Winter, Dogwood Winter, etc. I hope spring has made a sincere effort to appear in your hometown as well. Since it was so lovely yesterday, I wrapped up my weekend with a bit of a photo shoot. The collage you see here depicts Signs of Spring (this week’s photo prompt and one that will be much easier for me than “aqua”).

And finally the last photo is some oriental lilies from the supermarket, placed on my back porch and then processed to look less like a photo and more like a painting. What do you think?
So there you have it, Friends, a photography potpourri to get a new spring season started here on "Camper". My wish for all of you is a full season of beautiful spring weekends to get out with your family and friends, or by yourself, doing whatever it is that makes your heart sing.
