In yesterday's post, I told you that I'd been on a cruise last week with my husband. Our first port of call was Halifax, Nova Scotia. Well, now. It just so happens that my very good 'online' friend, Pam, lives very near Halifax. Pam arranged to have the day off and met us at the pier and so began the most marvelous day!
As I walked down the gangway, I spotted her and fairly knocked over people to get to her. We hugged as if we'd been friends for years ... which we have. Only now, we were 'real life' friends, an online friendship in 3D.
After morning tea at a 'veddy Brrritish' tea room in Lord Nelson's Public House, our adventures began. We strolled through the public gardens, we took pictures, we laughed, we talked. We were together.
You know, a few years ago, Pam said to me in an email: I believe that one day we will sit across from one another and share a cup of tea. And wonder of wonders ... it happened. Now we didn't really share our tea, she had her own cup and I had my own cup, but you know what I mean.
Next we went out to Pam's house to meet her husband, Pat, and to see their beach, which is shown here and uptop.
Do you want to know one of the best things about this day? It was that our husbands were able to get in on the act. Don't you just love this picture of Steve and Pat?
They got along like old chums. It was heartwarming.
After hanging around with Pat and visiting their cove
... we headed for Peggy's Cove, a place I've long wanted to visit.
One thing you can say about Pam: she always has her priorities straight. So lunch was eaten straightaway before we could visit the light house. And there was so much more there than just a light house and rocks.
Lots of shanties and little stores, a veritable little village, very charming.
But the best part was taking photos with Pam.
We laughed until we cried. We talked non-stop. After this day, I feel that my husband understands my desire to meet as many 'online' friends as I can. He enjoyed the day as much as I did and now he and Pat both have faces to put with names.
On this day in September 2014, some 'real life' friends were made. I miss you, Pam!
In friendship and love,
PS - Pam is our Guest Blogger today over at Focusing on Life where she tells you much more about our day together. Be sure to join us over there, I promise you'll be glad you did.
