Yesterday Ben and Lexi came over for a play date and Lex spied a picture of me sitting on my Grandpa's lap. She asked why "Campbell" looked sad. Lexi's Mom, Allison, was in the middle of answering when she realized it wasn't you. Allison was amazed how much you look like I did at the same age. Well, apparently you not only look like me but act like me, too. We've had a lot of snow around here this winter and earlier in the week as we scraped the car off to go to Kroger you announced "Mommy, I don't want any more snow! I want to go to the beach!" Well - I couldn't have said it better myself!
While you have grown tired of the snow and the cold that keeps you indoors, the first couple snowfalls were fun for you. Your Daddy took you sledding a couple times and I took you to Dotdot and Peepaw's to make snow angels. You made some pretty awesome angels - complete with a halo courtesy of the ball on top of your winter hat!
And, of course, you had to swing while you were playing outside at Dotdot and Peepaw's house - even if it was freezing cold! I have a feeling once it is warm outside keeping you in the house at all will be a nearly impossible feat! As it is your favorite thing to say is "Will you play with me?" It drives your Daddy crazy because you even ask that question when we are in the middle of actively playing with you! One of your favorite things to play recently has been Shrek. Daddy introduced you Shrek one night when Mommy went out with the girls. The next morning he threw you over his shoulder like Shrek did with Princess Fiona and for a week you refused to call him anything but Shrek.
You continue to crack us up daily. The other night we were eating with Dotdot and Peepaw when all of a sudden you stopped moving. We asked what you were doing and through gritted teeth you explained "I'm frozing!" You spent the next few minutes freezing into whatever silly face we could come up with from happy to mad to thoughtful. The whole while you had Dotdot, Peepaw and me in tears from laughing.
You have also caused great humor by busting out with very grown-up statements at the most random times. The other day I asked you if you wanted a treat and you informed me "Mommy first I have to eat something healthy." Another time I was taking Marlo out to go potty and had forgotten the bag for her cast. You came running to the door and exclaimed "Mommy! The doctor said DO NOT GET IT WET!" Wagging your finger at me the whole time, I might add. The other day you were at Wal-Mart with Daddy and as you walked by the pillows you informed him he needed to buy one. When he asked why you said "Because then you'll sleep better." And on more than one occasion you have launched into a long-winded explanation of how you need to learn to go potty in the big potty before you can start school and learn to read and ride a bus.
Now if only we could get you to follow through on some of these big kid observations!
All my love-
Mommy
